Well I am updating this now that I know some of you actually read it Thanks for your comments. I am leaving the Stanton, Michigan 50 grander with a good weekend never had to buy back for 4 straight races 8 and 0 on the buybacks is like winning a small race in itself. Thanks to “CHAMP” Stephen McCrory for having a ten percent deal with me and winning the 50 grander over Bones helped cover the weekend of steep entry fees. Beating my brother at 5 cars for the bye into the final was a ton of fun only to get crushed in the final by my hunting buddy Anthony Layne. Considering we only broke a trans in Walts car it was a very sucessful weekend. We are headed to McCormicks cottage for a couple days of relaxation and then on to Martin Michigan for the National Event and The Moser Shootout maybe we can actually win this year. I know that I am not a Dan Fletcher or an On the Road with Luke although maybe someday.

Hello everyone just wanted to let you know I didnt totally forget about updating the site. I am just a little slower than most. Since January it has been extremely busy at Folk Race Cars finishing up a complete Thunderbird for the Ken Norup Family as well as several other jobs. A huge project as well finishing up for the Folk Racing Team a new Super Stock Cobalt painted by Todds Extreme what a beautiful piece this is going to be. As well we added another American Race Cars dragster to the works for dad to play with sponsored by Dart Performance it is beautiful. We had a couple of road trips in between jobs at the shop thats lets say were very exciting. The best one was Dallas Texas at the concrete palace for and IHRA divisional to Belle Rose Louisiana for a NHRA Sportsnational with a couple of final round appearances what can you ask for other than having a above standard time hanging out with the Cummings family in between weekends we had nothing to do at all so we killed fish with a bow cleaned them and then ate them. Trust me it was a ton of fun we got back to the house at 5:15 that morning with 36 clean filets. The southern cajun in those boys with some yankee whoooo cares is a very good mix. Then on to Bristol for the Spring Fling bracket race which was a good race other than tearing up two motors and finding out the week before all this mess that I no longer have an engine sponsor SSRE race engines dropped me after 11 years I still cant beleive it myself. Class One racing engines and my father have a great relationship already going we will see what is best for all people interested for 2011. Wait did I say 2011 now I think Im planning ahead lets not get carried away until the PRI show. Once again Bristol was good with two runnerups then on to Rockingham where we could have done a lot better Nick semis in S/Stock dad and I first round clowns in T/D and Q/rod and Nick quartering in Stock must be something about races getting held over a year that our team didnt coincide with oh well next year at the TOC in Virginia. Onward said boss man to the Byron driving school what a good time that was with eleven students signed up we had a very good time with the exception of the weather. The crew and students at Byron Dragway were the best ecspecially BJ’s speech on autostart next year will be a blast as well. I will write back sooner with less time on ebay. Thanks, Brian

Well it has been quite sometime since updating the blog. The IHRA National at Rockingham race was a disaster lets just say it should have been Sportsman Sunday instead of on Monday. The Winter series in Florida was a very good trip in all with Nick and I being in 4 finals in three weeks I mean long weeks!! The raffle went off without any problems with the car going out west to Idaho. Meanwhile we were home for one week then back to Florida for the PRI show which went well. Hoping all the sponsors do come through with what they said 2010 will be interesting. The Holidays were great with the family and friends which also included a couple of days hunting. We are up to 8 deer and a coyote as well some of the best lunches ever seen in Emerald Folk’s cooking class held in the basement. The shop is steady busy building a Thunderbird for a customer Ken Norup and a Super Stock Cobalt for Nick. We will see you a the World Drag Expo in two weeks. Thanks!!!!

Folk Racing
With our raceteam beginning three weekends of racing at Byron Dragway, the first weekend was a success. At the IHRA Divisional and Sportsnational Brian won Top Dragster in Saturdays Race with Nick winning Stock in Sundays National. We hope to be heading to Rockingham with several bullets in the gun. We are having our inagural Folk Race Cars driving school at Byron this weekend. Then back to Byron for the Fourth of July 3 day race with the Folk Race Cars High Stake race Saturday night. Hopefully we can keep things headed in a positive direction.
WELL is always a good way to start out a sentence. It has been a very exciting month since my last post. The driving school was a huge success with 11 attendees total. Lets just say I beleive the track owner “BJ” was glad to see us come and ecspecially glad to see us leave after two days of wearing the track out. Some students made 18 runs in two days.
The next Folk outing was not as fortunate do to darned old Mother Nature as our 4th annual Folk High Stakes Race got rained out on Saturday. Looking to try again possibly Labor Day weekend.
Then the Folk Crew went on to Stanton Michigan for a NHRA points race. Nick got punished in Super Stock with a .016 package, then hogged up the stripe 3rd round in Stock to the eventual winner. I forgot where the finish line was in Top Dragster for the bye into the final. The General was the last man standing with a runner-up in Super Gas after crushing my .030 light in the semis. Which was nothing how Stalba punished Dad for the bye into the final in Super Comp with a stellar 016 drop to 90 with an egg. Still a decent weekend!!
Onward as they say in the wild wild west, or in Durand or I mean to Canada, EHH!! We sure had a good time hanging out with the McCormick’s !!! I Brian cheezed it up in both cars with 6 left little Elrod punished me in Super Rod along with everyone else he ran that entire weekend in both classes. Top Dragster was a repaeat to the week before with the bye-run into the final I forgot where the starting line was with a -006 redlight. While Nick was wasting fuel and dragging sand on to the starting line at Cordova at the 10 K bracket race. Then it was once again up to the General to hold the torch with a 002 light and win in the final of Quick Rod, Gosh it is as much fun when Dad wins as Nick or I!!!
The next month will also be a real tell tale as we are going to Byron for 2500 and 5000 brackets, Stanton 50K, Pittsburg triple IHRA race. No rest for the racers I mean the wives or whatever. Hope to update more often now that I have this web site stuff figured out HA HA!! and just bought a new labtop. Thanks, Brian
Had a little time while sitting in the rain in Stanton on Saturday thought I would update a little blurb. As scheduled Nick and I went to Byron for for 2500+5000. On Saturday I 000 6 ten thous the finish line behind Bruce Kaul fifth round. Nick benefitted from my sixth round redlight to end up breaking a stator tube in the trans, against Robert Stucynski who finished up with a big win over Hohn congrats to both!!! Then on to Stanton for four days of jam packed racing. On Thursday Nick and I both lost 6 th round in Dad’s dragster, Nick entered a $250.00 high stakes race and won over Shane Carr for $2000 towards buybacks for the rest of the weekend. Then on Friday’s 10K we both lost fifth round for not much round money. Of course we rolled the dice in the 1000 to enter I MEAN HIGH Stakes I fell to aka “bones” 2nd round and Nick punished him for me next round. So he could split $6500 a piece with Troy Williams and have a beer instead of running the final. So far so good except for mother nature here in Stanton possibly a wash here today maybe we will run for $55K on Sunday. Next update soon!!
Wow how time flies when you have two kids and Jill to keep me inline, plus never enough hours at the shop. Since the 50 grander at Stanton we had an exciting week in Pittsburgh for a double divisional and a Sporstman National with Nick bring home 3 trophies and myself 2. Then onto Osceola for a double divisional where Nick one in stock and runner-up with a illustrious -003 redlight in the final. Nick then went onto Indy to the Big Go lost a good race in the semis in the roadster. I stayed and raced at Byron unfortunately never got by third round everyone I ran went dead on with a zero. The Folk Race Cars High Stake Race went really well with Eric Anderson winning the box side for the second time in 4 years. The NO box winner was Joe Schmall all of the money went North of the border of course, they were most of the participants. Thanks for all that participated. From there our whole race team went to Earlville, Iowa for a divisional Dad and I had the -001 red third round clowns. Thats why there is no I in team with Nick winning Stock Eliminator that white car sure has been hot. Shop has been staying fairly busy considering the economy and that it is fall. Had a weekend off gearing up for Union Groves 11/7 and another Folk Race Cars High Stake Race Saturday. I promise I will do another message after the Union Grove race. Thanks, Brian Folk
The Union Grove race went off with no real gliches despite all of the whining I heard from some racers. Our high stakes race also went well with Jason Lynch winning over Troy Finner in the box side. I will give Troy a huge congrats for having a perfect run in the semis which I beleive is harder than a HOLE-IN-ONE. The No box winners were Mitchell Vincent in a very peculiar final with Leonard “BUCK” Davenport running out of gas as he told us not to tell anyone. Thanks again for all of the participants we will do it again next year. Then our raceteam is headed to Memphis for a week and half hietous for NHRA National and THE MILLION. Unfortunately we are sitting in the rain with no winners past second round at the National hopefully we can win some money at Holly Springs Tuesday for 20K. The Folk Race Cars raffle for dads dragster is going very well call if anyone else needs a ticket $100 only selling 275 paying back 10 places. Hopefully we will do some good at the MILLION. Thanks, Brian Folk
